MOLDING FORMS

As a year 3 interior architect, the exploration of materiality is essential for the benefit of understanding the industry and the properties materials may hold in terms of constructability and applications beyond their intended use.

We were asked to explore the use of an unusual materials, their combination, forms and applications.  My choice was Cork Granules and Latex as an adhesive base. The final product of the exploration was a successful development of a unique material with qualities of acoustic and aesthetic interest. This product ‘Cortex’ was later applied to dividing walls in my design for the Resilience Pavilion as a feature wall to act as a partition between private and public spaces.
