MODULAR SYSTEMS
As an application of this concept, we were first challenged to create a Sicily inspired food store in the University Canteen and, how this application could be embedded into the existing spatial fields of the university to interrupt and enhance the connected atmospheric experience. The stall is designed specifically around the famous Italian street food: Arancini. Arancini requires minimal preparation and minimal time to eat, is clean and convenient. This simple formula makes for a perfect quick gourmet Italian experience for the pop up modular system. Working like a sushi train, customers can collect the arancini along a wall of food boxes that are regularly changed for which they can take away or sit on the roof to eat. The tables use a mechanical hydraulic system that can be hidden within the flooring of the roof seating area. This application allows for spatial adaptation for eating or for social events that require uncluttered space. This interchangeability between the functionality and the users experience of the space, defines the modularity of the space, allowing users to experience architecture as more than just a room; but as a sequence of enhanced and adoptive experiences.
