BOTLEY SCHOOL CANTEEN RENOVATION

Referencing the studies of Modular Systems, a scheme was developed to be applied to a multi-functional space at the Botley Primary School canteen. The canteen was originally an old barn that had been renovated and fitted with a kitchen and server but was neither attractive or suited to a functional eating environment. Being too small for the number of users the school was forced to operate the facility in shifts. This approach was problematic with issues mess from previous lunch groups and congestion through to retrieving food, sitting down, eating and leaving in time before the next group comes though. Lunchtime for kids, should be an enjoyable experience and therefore the exploration into modularity aided a more functional space.
